Website inaccessibility prompts district to overhaul 504, Title II steps

An Arizona district had to overhaul its accessibility processes after the Office for Civil Rights discovered that the district’s website contained barriers to access for people with disabilities, including those with vision impairments.

Under a resolution agreement, the district committed to steps that included setting benchmarks according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA, appointing a Section 504-ADA coordinator, and training “all appropriate personnel” on website accessibility. More …
