Rapid evaluation tools may speed ed-tech tools to market

By Emily Ann Brown, Education Daily® ED is in the final stages of its Rapid-Cycle Technology Evaluation project to develop approaches for evaluating educational apps to help schools and parents make evidence-based decisions when choosing which apps to use with students in and outside the classroom.

Overseers gave school district leaders an early look at the tools during the recent annual NCES STATS-DC Data Conference. They said the project will establish a standard for low-cost, rigorous, and quick turnaround evaluations of such apps and help facilitate “rapid-cycle evaluations” to understand how to improve outcomes of programs under the Every Student Succeeds Act, Pub.
